A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or experiencing memory loss and cognitive decline can be frightening and frustrating at the same time. You may have been told “there is nothing much to do”, but this is not the whole story.
The RE:mind Program educates and empowers individuals and families to take control of their cognitive health.
xEmpowering Individuals and Families
Most cases of Alzheimer’s include abnormalities (plaques and tangles) in the brain. However, recent data suggests that Alzheimer’s development does not follow a single pathway. Many biologic processes play a role in the disease process, affecting its severity and its actual impact on the individual.
The RE:mind Program seeks to identify these potential pathways, so you can take action to optimize your cognitive health. Your physician consultant will guide you through an extensive laboratory analysis that provides key indicators of:
- Various blood levels that could be improved
- Heavy metals and other toxins that may be impacting cognitive function
- Vitamin or mineral deficiencies
- Genetic factors that impact both metabolic and cognitive health, and that may affect how well your current medications work for you
- Other stressors that could be contributing to cognitive impairment
Based on this analysis, a personal therapeutic plan is developed that will include recommendations for optimizing your body’s chemistry, as well as nutrition and lifestyle recommendations that have been shown to impact brain health. Some of these may need to be coordinated with your primary care provider who oversees other aspects of your medical care.
The RE:mind@Home program and RE:mind Immersion Retreats have been created to educate you on the benefits of and best practices for incorporating these changes into your everyday life. You choose the delivery path that best matches your needs.
At AFFIRMATIVhealth, we are dedicated to providing the education, tools, and support to empower you to take control of your cognitive health.
xCutting Edge Science
The RE:mind Program helps participants to access and apply the latest scientific research that applies to their situation.
Research has shown that there are many potential causes of cognitive decline, and no one person experiences the same “path” to Alzheimer’s or dementia. Through laboratory testing and personal medical history, we identify multiple factors that can impact your cognitive health, such as metabolic issues, toxicity, inflammation, diet, and lifestyle changes.
This information is then analyzed by a sophisticated computer algorithm to produce a unique, personal therapeutic plan that outlines recommendations that have been shown to impact brain health.
Each RE:mind participant will have a one-on-one session with our doctors to review their personal therapeutic plan, as well as one on one sessions with a dietician/nutritionist.
The science of Alzheimer’s and cognitive impairment is a dynamic and changing field. At AFFIRMATIVhealth we are constantly striving to evaluate the latest scientific findings, to ensure our RE:mind program includes the most current scientific knowledge for Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive health.
xAdvocacy and Support
At AFFIRMATIVhealth our goal is to create a supportive, collaborative community of affected individuals and their caregivers, all working together toward improving brain health.
The RE:mind program is set up to provide ongoing support from both our professional staff and peer participants. As a part of the program, periodic coaching from our trained professionals encourages and supports participants and caregivers to follow the individualized protocols in order to achieve the best results.
In addition, participants can interact with their peers in an online community that can be accessed on our website. For many, meeting others in a similar situation and continuing long term communication for reciprocal peer support is one of the highlights of the program. Mutual encouragement can help inspire yourself and others to keep on track towards improved brain and body health.
Alzheimer’s and dementia diagnosis can be frightening and create a sense of isolation from the rest of the world. We are here to ensure you have all of the support and advocacy possible as you enact changes to improve your cognitive health.
