At AFFIRMATIVhealth we understand that memory loss and a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia diagnosis can be frightening and frustrating at the same time. For those who feel that the current mantra of “there is nothing much to do” is not one you are willing to accept, we are here to help.
The RE:mind Program is focused on educating individuals and families as to how taking control of their health and wellbeing could bring about positive changes in cognition.
xEmpowering Individuals and Families
Recent data suggests that Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders do not follow a single pathway. Although certain specific abnormalities are present in the brain in most cases (e.g. “plaques and tangles” of Alzheimer’s disease), many other biologic processes also play a role in the disease process as well, affecting its severity and its actual impact on the individual.
Knowledge is power, the more you and our doctors know about the factors that may be impacting cognitive health, the more effectively we can work together to take definitive action to potentially reverse decline.
With the RE:mind Program, your physician consultant will guide you through an extensive laboratory analysis that provides key indicators of:
- Various blood levels that could be improved
- Heavy metals and other toxins that may be impacting cognitive function
- Vitamin or mineral deficiencies
- Genetic factors that impact both metabolic and cognitive health, and that may affect how well your current medications work for you
- Other stressors that could be contributing to cognitive impairment
Based on this analysis, each participant will be given a personalized protocol that outlines key nutrition, lifestyle and other recommendations that have been shown to impact brain health. Some of these may need to be coordinated with your primary care provider who oversees other aspects of your medical care.
During the four-day on-site retreat portion of the program doctors, nutritionists, physical therapists, chefs and other industry professionals will demonstrate and instruct participants and their care givers on the benefits of and best practices for incorporating these changes into your everyday lifestyle.
At AFFIRMATIVhealth, we are dedicated to providing the information and education needed to empower you to take control of your own cognitive wellbeing.
xCutting Edge Science
The RE:mind Program is first and foremost focused on enabling participants to access and apply the latest scientific research that applies to their situation.
Research has shown that there are many potential causes of cognitive decline, and no one person experiences the same “path” to Alzheimer’s or dementia. Together with our affiliate, Muses Labs, we can help identify multiple factors that can impact your cognitive health, such as metabolic issues, toxicity, inflammation, diet, and lifestyle changes.
Prior to attending the RE:mind retreat, each participant will work with their doctors and other health care providers to provide our team with :
- Medical History
- List of medications
- Results of cognitive tests
- Lifestyle information
- Laboratory and genetic testing results
This information is then analyzed by our affiliate, Muses Labs, to produce a personalized MEND Protocol. The MEND Protocol is generated by a sophisticated computer algorithm that analyzed each participant’s medical history, genetic information, and extensive laboratory data to product a unique, individualized plan that outlines nutrition, lifestyle and other recommendations that have been shown to impact brain health.
When participants arrive at the RE:mind retreat, they will be provided with their personalized protocol and will spend the entire four days learning about the science behind this approach and how to apply their individualized plan. Each participant will also have a one-on-one session with our doctors to review their personalized protocol, as well as one on one sessions with a dietician/nutritionist and supplements expert.
Our doctors and presenters provide an overview of multiple important topics, including the scientific basis of the RE:mind program and biology of Alzheimer’s disease, neuroplasticity, brain-healthy nutrition, herbals and other supplements, mindfulness, and sleep and relaxation techniques. Our team has a diverse range of backgrounds and expertise, providing you with a holistic understand and approach to your cognitive wellbeing and brain health.
The science of Alzheimer’s and cognitive impairment is a dynamic field and changing field. At AFFIRMATIVhealth we are constantly striving to evaluate the latest findings, to facilitate understanding of these findings for our participants, and also to determine whether any new data could be applied to the RE:mind program
xAdvocacy and Support
At AFFIRMATIVhealth our goal is to create a supportive, collaborative community of affected individuals and their caregivers, all working together toward improving brain health.
The most effective way to support individual participants is to have a deep understanding of their genetic and bio-specimen makeup as well as medical history and lifestyle, which is analyzed through the MEND protocol.
However having that information is only one aspect of the complete RE:mind program. During the four day retreat, our doctors work with each individual to ensure there is a full understanding of the individuals protocol and action plan, and our professional team coach each individual on methodology to apply the plan during their everyday lives.
The RE:mind program is set up to provide ongoing support from both our professional staff and peer participants. As a part of the program, periodic coaching from our trained professionals encourages and supports participants and caregivers to follow the individualized protocols in order to achieve the best results.
In addition, participants can interact with their peers in an online community that can be accessed on our website. For many, meeting others in a similar situation and continuing long term communication for reciprocal peer support is one of the highlights of the program. Mutual encouragement can help inspire yourself and others to keep on track towards improved brain and body health.
Alzheimer’s and dementia diagnosis can be frightening and create a sense of isolation from the rest of the world, we are here to ensure you have all of the support and advocacy possible to ensure a return to cognitive health.
